Go team!
Future vegetable/fruit/berry/garden area. One of our pest control employees inspecting business stuff in the farm office

Nedre Frellumstad Gård is located in Våle about 20 min drive from Tønsberg/Holmestrand in Norway. In addition to the human species family members living at the farm there are some employees dealing with pest control. Two of them are very snuggly and happy cats doing a great job at dealing with rodents. Employees of the duck species are not at all snuggly, but they tolerate us and do a great job of eliminating a whole lot of slugs. A new addition this year is dølagris (Norwegian pig breed), and their job is weed elimination, tilling and fertilising areas that will be used for growing food later. We are in the very start up phase, and have a lot of ideas on what opportunities exist. However we have limited experience, and are very open to ideas. We are eager to learn with everyone joining us at the farm, and wish to develop a perfect, small scale place that grows both happiness and tasteful, healthy food. A whole lot of things need to be dealt with, but at the same time there is until now not a «typical daily schedule» as we are just getting started at the farm. Tasks at the farm this season will be to take care of the animals, and take care of the soil and what grows in it - both wanted and unwanted species. There are also plenty other tasks that need attention through the summer. Construction work to get necessary storage space for garden tools etc, maintenance of existing buildings used at the farm, tending to the forest, weeding, and a whole lot more. We are mainly interested in having day visits and shorter duration of stay. There may still be a possibility for the right person to join us for some more time. For overnight stays you will live in the recently built farm house with us, where you have a bedroom for yourself with an amazing view and plenty space. You will have a bathroom almost to yourself, and kitchen and common areas are shared. The house is new, but parts of what was here previously are kept and loved. We expect you to respect both house and property, and treat everything with great care and love. As for food you will eat with the family. We strive to have organic and local food where possible, and eat a varied diet. We make an effort to bake bread ourselves and eat healthy, but still allow ourselves to enjoy both sweets and snacks. You will be expected to contribute with both preparing food and cleaning up after meals, as well as contributing to keep the house and property tidy and clean. One important thing for us is to keep our property free of harmful substances. This includes smoking and use of tobacco as well as other substances. If you are a smoker (or user of other substances) we can unfortunately not welcome you to our farm. We do have «regular jobs» in addition to the farm, meaning there is not a whole lot of time in abundance. However we do value taking time to enjoy life. We are social beings and often invite family and friends over for meals. We do love to travel, and have travelled quite a lot both in Norway and internationally. In the evenings we usually end up watching a movie or series to wind down before bed. One of us plays bass guitar in a band and we both like music of many genres. We enjoy a great variety of things, and rarely say no to any opportunity/new experience/challenge at hand. As for local available things to do there are several hiking opportunities in the area. Family farms nearby can be visited, and many cities are rather easily accessible. Swimming options both in the sea and lakes in the area, but you will need a car for most of them.

I stayed on the farm for two weeks and had an absolute blast. The host family is extremely welcoming, open-minded, and easy to connect with. Eating meals together felt like being part of the family. The daily work was diverse and engaging. Since the farm was in an exciting startup phase, there was a nice variety of projects to jump into: from daily animal care, soil prep, painting, to weeding some plants you really don't want on your farm. It’s a fantastic environment if you enjoy learning, sharing ideas, and pitching in as a team. I had a wonderful time and who knows, maybe i come again in a couple of years😊

This was my first WWOOF experience and I felt very welcomed by Elise and the whole family. Good communication before and during the stay, and explanations on how to do things. It's a very nice atmosphere on the farm where nature, animals and people are respected and taken good care of. I can recommend a stay here! Takk for at dere tok så meg så godt imot på det som ha vært årets varmeste dag, håper vi ses igjen!
