About Us and Our Animals Hi! My name is Guro and I’m 45 years old. Together with my husband Morten (38), we run about 770 daa (77 ha) of grass, grain, and peas, and we have around 90 sheep in the barn. We also keep a few hens that our two sons, Halvor (10) and Peder (12), are responsible for, and they sell the eggs. We also have a cat and last summer we had 2 pigs and 4 horses grazing all summer. Farm Activities Most of the activity on the farm happens from April to October. Lambing starts in mid April. It’s quite intense, and we hire extra help during those three weeks. During this period, most of our time goes into delivering lambs, follow up care, feeding, moving animals to pasture, fencing, and so on. At the end of April, spring fieldwork begins with soil preparation and sowing. May and June are spent following up on the sheep and lambs, vaccinating, transporting them to summer pasture at Ringkollen, and doing the first cut of grass. We usually take a few weeks of summer holiday in July before the second cut in August, followed by the grain harvest with combining and transporting grain trailers. Tasks we imagine a Woofer could help with, and learn from, include general animal care, moving sheep in the barn, transporting them to pastures and caring for bottle fed lambs. Work can also include repairing fences, outside painting, weeding the vegetable garden and the fields of grain, and cutting gras under the electric fence with a string trimmer. Food and Accommodation We will eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together most days. We have a spacious basement living area with its own entrance, toilet, and shower, which we plan for one or two Woofers to use as their own space. Hobbies and Things to Do Nearby We’re a family that enjoys being outdoors. We love swimming in the river by our farm, or anywhere. We have a kitchen garden we like working in together (though the kids aren’t as involved anymore…), and we enjoy card games and movie nights. Ringerike has beautiful natural areas close by, and it’s only about an hour’s drive to Norefjell to the north and the Oslofjord to the south. Hønefoss town center is within walking distance from the farm.

An excellent stay! The entire family was absolutely lovely. They passionately shared their Norwegian culture with us, making us feel at home right from the start. This was our first experience working on a farm, and they taught us so much. The tasks on the farm were very interesting and Guro and Morten were good at explaining tasks, giving us independence and being welcoming to different abilities. And the sheep and chickens were verry cute! The food was great, we ate really well throughout our stay! The bed was very comfortable, and the private space dedicated to us was really great. They lent us electric bikes, which was verry convenient so we can easily reach the town center at 10 minutes, or go to a beautiful beach 20 minutes away where you can go swimming. We will be back one day! Many thanks, Robin and Gael
