1.
We are Geir and Gunn. We have all together 5 geown up kids. The total area of the farm is 85 daa with 9 daa cultivated land. Gunn Elisabeth is the farmer, but Geir and our youngest, Åsta, works on the farm and in the café if needed. Our farm is debio-certified organic with fruit, berries, eggs and vegetables. We also practice regenerative farming/No till. Based on our products we make a lot of good food, and serve it on the farm café. We also produce a lot to sell on Farmers Marked.
From the autumn - 25 we will have work outside the farm, and focus less on the café. There will still be events!
2.
You will help in the vegetable garden, with the poultry and apple juice making.
Tasks:
- In winter time it is pretty quiet. We take care of the animals and sell products at Reko ring which is like a farmers marked where you order the products in advance.
- From April we start seeding and cultivating of small plants, we prepare the garden and the green house. We work in the café and go to marked's. We also show around visitors. We take care of the animals and we may do some fixing of our buildings.
- In summer time, in addition to the tasks mentioned (animals, buildings, events.. .), we have to maintain the garden and harvest from it (vegetables and berries).
- From August on we harvest apples and press juice.
- In December we facilitate Chistmas sale.
3.
WWOOFers will stay either in a cabin, an apartment or in a room in our house depending on the availability (all normal standard).
We eat a lot of our own ecological food from the farm and local products. The café kitchen is always available, and the café is the sosial room at evenings. There are TV and music.
4.
Make a plan for the day with us-
You can choose from:
-activity in the kitchen garden.
-feed the animals/collect eggs, clean and pack them.
-picking berries and cooking jam for the farm shop.
-pick apples and make apple juice in August - October
-go with me on the markets.
-maintaining the vegetable garden.
-pick flowers for sale
-and more
A detailed time we will agree on each day depending on who is working. WWOOFers will participate around 5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
5. Gunn Elisabeth is the farmer, and husband Geir and daughter Åsta sometime helps. I hope to get more time for flower growing. I am educated as a teacher and a florist. I search more space for estethics in my life, and less administration.
The place we live, is very beautiful, by a lake, and with lots of air and nature around. There will be concerts and quite busy in the spring, summer and autumn.
We have a piano at the farm, you can hike, take a swim, arrange parties, be creative and come with suggestions.
We will have some Jobs outside the farm during the next seasons Therefore we are looking after some people that can take care of the café. Cheap rent for housing on the farm. Must be the right persons! Send me a mail at gunn@slettenehage.no if you are interessed.

We had a great time at Gunn at Geir's, they are a very welcoming and generous couple. Unfortunatety they had to close down the cafe just shortly before we came. But they had different jobs for us like picking apples, bottling juice, labelling and packing it, work in the garden etc.
Even though there's basically no public Transport we saw a lot of the surroundings because they we're kind enough to take us on little trips or dropped us off to take the bus.
All in all a great experience-thanks to both of you!

Dear Gunn, Geir and Åsta,
First we want to say thank you for everything.
When we met you, you made us feel immediately comfortable and we felt like our 8 planned weeks would go so fast.
There is always something to do at Slettene Hage : a day is 5 hours long, and you work 5 days a week. During our stay from June to August, we were able to help with the watering / weeding / seeding / mowing / harvesting (flowers, berries and vegetables) inside the greenhouses and outside. Gunn will always love to help you if you are interested in all this.
We also have been able to help Åsta with her animals (geese, chickens, ducks, quails) by providing them with food, water, collecting the eggs. Åsta taught us a lot about them which was amazing 🤩.
We also had the opportunity to hold the café in the week and on the sunday for the weekly buffet, and to help cooking, baking and cleaning of course. Geir is always ready to help in the cafe and to teach you his favorite recipes for the café !
Also, you can have access to a car so you are super independent, and the woofers apartment is also great. Also, Herefoss has a tiny store where you will get your food and pay on invoice for Slettene Hage.
We spent all our evenings playing games with Åsta, so if you come during summer, you’re so welcome to bring your own favorite games.
We had a great time at Slettene Hage and hope we can meet again someday, we met amazing people and hope the best for all of them.
Thanks again, see you in France !

I stayed three weeks at Slettene Hage and it was wonderful! Gunn, Geir and Åsta are amazing hosts, very friendly and welcoming, always looking after the wwoofers.
The work was quite varied: Watering the plants, picking flowers, sorting stuff in the greenhouse, looking after (and moving) the animals (Åsta knows everything about chickens, ducks, geese and quails!), working in the café (serving, baking, cleaning) and with campers who stayed on the farm for a night. There were also some events that we (the wwoofers) helped prepare for, which were wonderful experiences!
I worked for about 5 hours a day, five days a week. In the free time I went hiking in the neighborhood or for a swim in the fjord with the other wwoofers. We also had a lovely time playing games, cooking food together or going on short trips to Arendal, Lillesand, Kristiansand.
All in all I can absolutely recommend wwoofing at Slettene Hage!

We are incredibly happy to have been able to do our first woofing at Gunn and Geir's farm. We stayed for about a month in july and the hosts are very welcoming and understanding, it made us at ease from the very beginning.
The main tasks are gardening (weeding, watering the plants...), taking care of the animals (feeding the chickens, ducks and geese) and work in the café (cooking, baking, serving...). We worked for about 5 hours a day, 5 days a week and days off can be at any time during the week. We also could borrow one of the cars to run some errands, go for a hike, a swim...
The atmosphere among them was friendly, convivial and the hosts were very attentive. We had a really great experience, we couldn't have imagined having such a good time for a first woofing. Gunn and Geir are such sweet people, always ready to teach everything they can. We will never forget the memories we created during this month and how much we felt included as a part of their family.
Thank you for everything <3<3

I stayed on the farm for almost four months, and I enjoyed every single moment of this long stay. Gunn, Geir, and Åsta are truly wonderful people, always smiling and always happy to spend time with me. They constantly made sure that my stay went as smoothly as possible.
The work was varied: some days we worked in the garden doing weeding, planting, harvesting, or mowing the grass. Other days, we helped out at the café, which is open every Sunday with a buffet. During opening hours, we were responsible for looking after the café.
We could also borrow a car to explore Norway. There are so many beautiful places for hiking and swimming, and the landscape around the farm is stunning.
For me, this is the perfect place to go woofing in Norway.
I’ll leave this experience with so many wonderful memories, and I’m sure I’ll try to come back one day to see Gunn, Geir, and Åsta again.
