Nord-Hidle is a tiny Island in Ryfylke, with 14 inhabitants, mostly farmers, and very good public boats. I have 60 sheep in the winter and many more in the spring and summer. I have many fruit trees, and berries, and kitchen vegetable -garden. Fishing at the dock or from boat is possible. Wild garlic is also an important product. Sheepholding is the main task on the farm: feeding them, bringing them out to the pastures, cleaning, lambing (in spring) and many more. We also do woodwork in the wintertime. In summer we mainly do gardening: vegetables, fruit, berries, maintaining the garden and also the farm (for example painting). From time to time I host guests in my guesthouses, then you will also help with preparing the rooms and serving food. Unfortunately I have Alzheimers and I am currently in treatment (as one of the first in the world). I am still looking after the farm until my niece is taking over in summer 2027. My longterm memory is good so I can still lecture you about history and society. But my shortterm memory makes me ask you if we have had tea already😉. You will stay in my house, in the guestroom with writing desk and recliner- chair. You eat in the kitchen together with me, and with my boys and family if they are at home. We will make a list of upcoming tasks for the next few days. Depending on the season and the amount of work we have 3 -4 meals a day (one warm meal per day). If longer stay: Norwegian course once a week at maine island, in the evening. We have a litle restaurant at the fram, that is open only at request for groups of 6-25 people. Those dayes when we have guests, it is nessesary to bee two when the guests are present: as I am cooking it is excelent to have an extra hand to serve at the table. I enjoy gardening and flowers, and gathering foods in the nature. I like to cook and make festive meals with the ingredients that are available from the land or local providers. Before Christmas I give demonstrations course on how to make christmas decorations of natural materials. I enjoy newspapers, books and boardgames, museums and history! I give guides tours on the cultural heritage of the islands to guests, and WWOOFers might experiance to get longer answers to simple questions than they expect.🙂

I stayed with Terjer and her son for a week, and although I had to leave earlier due to some allergy issues on my side, my experience with them was very enriching. She made me feel very welcome and provided everything I needed to work comfortably. She’s kind, flexible with schedules, and very resourceful. There is so much to learn there. Also, very patient, bc I'm probably the worst trailer learner in history 😂 So I would absolutely recommend staying with her! Just a small note: ferries run often, but costs can add up if you use them frequently.

Thank you so very much!! I spent seven months at Terjers farm and it was such a beautiful and healing time for me. It was my first time in another country alone and I felt very welcomed and included in the normally small family. Since I arrived in November, my work did change over the months, but I always had joy caring for the sheep (f.e. feeding them in the winter, and taking care of the little ones later). If you are ready for a bit of lovely chaos, I can only recommend visiting. The place was beautiful and very quiet, a good choice to reconnect with nature and calm down. I felt very cared for and once again thank you for the funny time!

Antje

I have spent two wonderful months at Terjer's farm! She is a great host that knows how to make you feel at home. I have seen so much more than I expected and I am very grateful for that. I had the chance to be there for the National Day and to her son's wedding. These events were the perfect occasions for me to learn more about the Norwegian people and culture! I ended up staying one more month!😆 Thank you for everything!!

I recently finished a 12-week internship at NordaHidle Farm, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. Terjer and the entire family were incredibly polite and welcoming, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The work on the farm was a wonderful mix of tasks that kept things interesting and fun. Whether I was taking care of the sheep, or helping at the restaurant, every day was a new adventure. The variety of work made my time on the farm fly by, and I learned so much along the way. The breathtaking natural beauty of Nord-Hidle Island. Being surrounded by such stunning landscapes every day was amazing. The peaceful environment and gorgeous views made my time on the farm even more enjoyable and provided a perfect backdrop for all our activities. Thank you so much Terjer, and to your wonderful family, for making my internship such an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend NordaHidle Farm to anyone looking for a unique and enriching internship opportunity.

I had a wonderful experience at Terjer’s farm. Terjer is a lovely and intelligent person. She is always sharing her extensive knowledge and stories about her life. The tasks and living arrangements were as Terjer describes them in her WWOOF profile. My room was comfortable and I slept well after a good days work! I enjoyed every day and hope to one day come back.
