Hakkesetstølen is a small, family-owned mountain lodge located near Geilo, Norway, at the gateway to the beautiful Hardangervidda mountain plateau. We are looking for nature-loving WWOOFers for both the summer season (25 June – 15 September) and the winter season (February – May 2027).
In summer, hiking and biking trails start right outside our door, with endless opportunities to explore the Norwegian mountains, lakes, and forests. During your stay, you can borrow bicycles for free and enjoy free fishing in nearby mountain lakes. In winter, we are a true ski-in/ski-out destination surrounded by snowy landscapes and cross-country ski trails.
We offer accommodation for guests in ten rooms, one apartment, and four cabins, and we also run a small café on-site. Around the lodge we have a garden and small animals including chickens, rabbits, and sometimes goats.
Most of our guests come from Norway, but we also welcome visitors from all over Europe and beyond. Hakkesetstølen has been operated by our family for more than 30 years, and many guests return year after year because of the warm atmosphere, peaceful surroundings, and close connection to nature.
Although this is our first year joining WWOOF, we have welcomed volunteers for many years and truly enjoy meeting people from different cultures. We want our WWOOFers to experience authentic Norwegian mountain life, learn new skills, and enjoy unforgettable outdoor adventures during their stay with us.
Current projects vary throughout the seasons and may include gardening, preparing the hen house, maintenance work, helping around the lodge and café, outdoor cleaning, and other daily tasks as they arise.
We use composting and try to work in harmony with nature as part of our everyday life.
