This farm in Hardanger has not been run for about 30 years before we came here. Tessa is from Oslo and moved here in 2019, and Ander is from the Basque country. We are looking for people who want to exchange knowledge related to carpentry and organic farming. We are highly interested in cultural exchange, so we strongly prefer people with something to share related to our project. To enjoy your time here, we advice you are a person who likes life in the countryside and are enthusiastic about physical tasks . We live a bit remotely, and on a hill, so we walk up and down the hill a lot. We are looking for a couple or two friends that are ok with sharing a room in a cabin next to the main house. We run an apple orchard that is newly planted 2-5 years ago. The orchard is Debio certified/organic, and involves some manual tasks. Organic means no chemical fertilizer, and no herbicides or pesticides used. Ander is a keen beekeeper, having around 40 hives. The task we want to do together depends on the time of the year you come. During the summer we mostly do tasks as mulching/raking grass, thinning apples, watering, weeding and supporting apple trees. In the summer season we also would love help greeting guests at the sauna wich is a 5 min. atv drive away down by the fjord. Later in autumn we need help with apple picking and juice making. We have a tiny press in our basement where we have a small scale juice production. Our old farm houses always needs some maintenance in between, some berries needs to be picked, we need to make firewood, do some ditching, fencing, gardening, drywalling, beekeeping, label some juice bottles, organise some messy room and taking care of our chickens among other tasks. We offer a separate cabin with a bedroom, and another cabin with a living room and a simple kitchen. This cabin is shared with us, our worker and sometimes friends. They are both almost 200 years old historical charming buildings that we used to rent out for summer guests. The bedroom has two beds- one big and one normal. The bathroom is in the main house next to it. We sometimes share meals with the volunteers, and like to sometimes show them Norwegian and Basque cuisine. You will be responsible to do some meals for yourselves, and to keep the huts tidy and clean and show respect to how we like to do it here when it comes to tidyness, recyceling, etc. We are social friendly people and are outside working on the farmland all day. We want to ensure you have a good experience being here, so if you are interested in coming, we would like to have a video talk to get to know each other a little, describe the help we need for the time you plan coming, and to ensure we can meet your expectations and vice versa. Note if you want to come hang with us and help us out, you must have a work visa in Norway, or come from within Schengen. You are responsible to have a health insurance. The farm overlooks the glacier Folgefonna across the fjord. The fjord offers opportunities for swimming, fishing and kayak rides ( we have two kayaks you can use) in the summertime, and the hills are full of hiking opportunities. The landscape in Hardanger is beautiful, with waterfalls, fjords and mountains with snow all around. The nearest town is Odda, a 30 minutes bus ride away, and the village Lofthus is a 10 minute bus ride away. Lofthus has a shop, pub and restaurant, but its not so much socially that happens around so we usually make our own party. The town Voss is a one hour bus ride away with access to the Bergen-Oslo railway line. The bus times are a bit limited. Internet access is available.

A wonderful stay with wonderful people! These three weeks of Woofing were a real pleasure. Tessa and Ander are very kind, accommodating, and full of positive vibes. My stay was re-energizing and rich in encounters and emotions. I highly recommend participating in Tessa and Ander's projects, and Hjalmar's too! See you soon!
