We're a german family  (couple with grandma)living on an island on the west coast of Norway with 5 permanent residents. Since January 2014 we are running our certified organic farm, where we keep a flock Old Norwegian Wild Sheep and a handful of chickens. Besides this, we grow organic vegetables, mainly toward self-sufficiency, but we sell our surplus produce locally.  Even though we're well established, there's always plenty of work on an organic farm.  Our Wwoofers can try their hands at a range of tasks, such as weeding, tending to the animals, light forestry work, small building projects (fences, compost bins etc.) and general maintenance. From February on there will be a lot of woodcutting, chopping and stapling this year. We are planning to set up a tunnel green house, here we need help for the preparation and the building up. In June, we cut and dry our own hay, which requires a lot of hands.  Besides work, the island also has much to offer. Fishing, rowing, canoeing and swimming in the fjord, exploring nature, or just hanging out with whatever you want. It's also possible to do things on the mainland. You can borrow a bicycle, go hiking in the mountains, and visiti our cozy small town.   We can take in 1-2 wwoofers at a time, and are looking forward to hearing from you.  Organic methods: Mechanical weeding, mulching. Certifications: Debio Current projects: Buidling compost station, renewing gates and fences, wood milling, forestry, and meadow weeding.  Internet access available

By plane, boat or bus to Florø, we can get you from there. It's also possible to take the local bus to Brandsøy, which is where our mainland dock is, and from where we can collect you directly.

I am so glad that I had my first Wwoofing experience with Barb and Bruno, and grandma Anna! It was only a weekend, but staying with them was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed the tasks I got, it helped that I was there on sunshiney days. Even when it started drizzling, the workflow was good. I enjoyed eating meals together both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The conversations flowed well and I felt included even though I was the only non-German speaker. I was taught a bit of German here and there too! It was also nice to have the company of another Wwoofer at the farm. We went exploring parts of the island after working hours and got fabulous views. The accomodation, my room in the barn was cozy, I spent little time there. I totally recommend them as a host family! I hope to come back.

I had a really great time at Bärbel and Bruno’s farm. They are interesting and warm people and made me feel welcome. I am very glad that I chose this place. I stayed here for almost 3 weeks and I learnt so many different things during this time, both from the work during the day, but also from interesting conversations about climate and nature during the great meals that Bärbel made for us. Chopping wood, gardening, looking after the chickens and watching the sheep were some of the tasks I got to do. I was lucky enough to stay here during lambing season and it was so magical to watch the little lambs playing around in the sun. The island is very very beautiful and fun to explore, and there are great opportunities for day trips to for example Florø. It was hard to leave this place and I hope I will have the opportunity to come visit again soon! I very much recommend this place!

My time at Behme Økologisk Gård was really wonderful! Bärbel and Bruno are very friendly, warm and humorous people, so I quickly felt very comfortable with them. The work is varied and exciting, and everything is explained to you well, so you can learn a lot. The farm is a beautiful place and although you are well connected by bus on the mainland, the island feels a bit like another world, so you can unwind there really well. It is very worth exploring the island, and there are also very great possibilitys for daytrips on the mainland. In addition, there is the great opportunity to learn how to row and super delicious food with lots of vegetables from the garden. I can highly recommend a stay and thank you for the wonderful time!

Even though nobody need more proofs to know that Behme Økologisk Gård is a great place, I still want to write a small text about my experience. :) Barbara and Bruno, you created such a warm, peaceful, healthy, and decontracted atmosphere on Grønenga. The type of atmosphere that makes you feel welcome as soon as you put a foot on the Island! You genuinely want to share your knowledges, to enlighten your woofers, and I think that is the most magical thing about you and your family. I learned a lot during these 2 weeks and I could never thank you enough for that. Dear woofer, the Island and the nature is stunning, and I can guarantee you'll have plenty of time to explore. The work is not too hard and really rewarding, and is also really accurate to the description. And of course, the food is delicious (if you bring some typical German liquor, which I forgot the name of, Barbara will make a great cake out of it ;) ). If you like working outside and learn, this is the perfect place! I want to thank you both, as well as Anni, for this enriching stay I had at the farm. We will keep in contact. A bientot!

I am so happy and grateful I choose Behme gård! Bärbel and Bruno are a lovely couple; warm, free spirited, charming, funny as f...!, generous and including, but at the same time gave me freedom to choose my tasks and alonetime if I wanted. The island itself is magnificent, beautiful and serene, and the farmhouses charming. The sauna, swimming, row- and sailboats, vegetable/herbgarden, the cutest sheep ever (especially the coupling lamb Moritz <3), chicken and hens with daily eggs, våronna, the beautiful garden all situated in this wonderful island is a must! P.S. I thought I was fluent in German before I arrived, but have to admit; I was not up to par for Anni´s (Bärbels funny mother) German quick-witted remarks, but I improved. The food was, as stated by the other WWOOF´ers before me: amazing, I felt spoiled. I can warmly recommend Behme gård, and I want to return next year. So there you go:-)

We really enjoyed our stay with Bärbel and Bruno, they are open and energetic people, and we felt very included into the family routines. Our work included a lot of wood work which they tried to make as diverse and interesting as possible and they generally trusted us to work independently but you could always ask for help when needed. Bärbel also showed us how to make bread and the food was just incredible. We would definitively recommend staying with them and want to come back as soon as possible!
