We are Liv (45), Thomas (50), Odin (8 years old) and Ida (2 years old).  We live on a small, 300 years old farm in south east Norway outside Rena village by the Glomma river. The farm has been more or less in-active for more than 40 years before we started reestablishing it as an active self sustained farm 8 years ago. Our philosophy is based on regenerative and permaculture practices and principals. Our project is to become fully self sustained and to live a life in co-creation with nature. Today we have some pigs, sheep and lambs, hens and chickens and some bees. We produce vegetables on about 2500m2 market garden and in a green house. We are primarily looking for someone that would like to stay with us 3month + , but we will also accept some shorter stays during spring and summer season. Summer means securing winter feed for the animals, planting, weeding and harvesting vegetables, harvesting wild plants, maintenance, preserving vegetables and berries and much more. So if you are interested, please don`t hesitate to contact us. We can also host one or two persons through the winter season, when focus will mostly be on taking care of the animals, maintenance and construction work. All this in addition to the daily and seasonal routines on a farm, like caring for the animals, kitchen work, making fire wood, etc. Organic methods: We are developing regenerative farming methods suitable for us, our farm and our bioregion based on old and new knowledge and technology, without the use of heavy machines (we own an old tractor bur rarely use it). This includes compost, fermenting manure, managed grazing, making and using bio char and a host of other methods. We love to share of our knowledge and experience and inspire other to get closer to nature. Accommodation on the farm: * Cosy log cabin on the farm finished in 2020, one big room with a loft. With solar electricity and a comfy outdoor toilet and shower. Close to the river. * Cosy log cabin with two rooms on the farm from about 1850 with basic standards and outdoor toilet. Solar electricity. Shower is shared with the other log cabin. * Small and cosy cabin next to the cabin from 1850, share outdoor toilet. Shower is shared with the other log cabin. No electricity at the moment. Meals: Much of the food is produced on the farm or harvested in the outdoors. You will eat breakfast in your cabin. Lunch we eat together on the farm. Dinners will be eaten together on the farm or you will make it in your cabin. We had many wwoofers through the years and it has been a great experience. Looking forward to hear from you. :)

We spent 10 weeks on Liv and Thomas's farm from September to December, and we had a wonderful time! They are very nice people, welcoming and very caring. We quickly felt very comfortable and trusted. Thomas and Liv were very available and we could ask as many questions as we wanted; they were always happy to answer. Their farm is a big place with many different tasks: animals, vegetables, building… a lot to learn from and that inspired us. We started every day at 7:30 with the animal routine, which we loved because it was a very peaceful moment shared with the animals. Then there was a meeting together. We talked about the different tasks of the day but also about our feelings and our mood. We ate lunch together every day of the week. It was a very nice moment. We had some very interesting conversations about everything. We also listened to many of their crazy stories! In the afternoon, we usually worked until 4 pm. But there was always room for more, or less if you wanted to. We lived in an individual cabin from 18xx which was very comfortable on its own way. It was an amazing experience and a real pleasure to help them a little bit. It was painful to leave the farm. Of course we will come back :)

Thomas and Liv are amazing people with beautiful intentions, ideals and life goals. Thomas is driven and filled with stories and Liv is thoughtful and a great cook! I stayed at the farm for 2 months from mid May until mid July 2025 and I had an absolutely amazing time. The day started at 7.30 from Monday to Friday, checking on seedlings and caring for animals. After that it was morning meeting, which I appreciated soooo much. There was space to chat about how you were doing and bring up anything important about yourself or the work on the farm. We would also talk about the plan of the day and decide and divide tasks. This could be anything from preparing food for animals (yes the pigs get a cooked meal, very haute cuisine) to garden work to building stuff! We usually worked until 16.00 and had early dinner at +/- 16:30 together almost every day. After that it’s freeee time, as well as on Saturday and Sunday of course! At around 19:00 each evening, sheep had to be gathered back from the forest into the field and pigs and chickens needed to be fed again. In the beginning Thomas usually did this, but at the end of my stay we were with more people and it was a veeery busy time with selling fresh harvest at farmers markets so I and other volunteers did these animal routines while Thomas was away, also on weekends. I cannot recommend Liv and Thomas enough. It was my first WWOOF’ing experience and they made it unforgettable. Hovdneset truly felt like home. Thank you.
