My time at Arctic Ecogarden was such a wonderful, transformative experience. Leikny is an excellent host who is extremely knowledgeable about many topics, not just farming. She is willing to teach and to learn from you. She is open-minded and kind, and very interested in cultural exchange. I learned much about arctic farming and harvesting practices in my short time at her farm, which is a beautifully maintained piece of land, surrounded by the natural beauty of Norway on all sides. I got to hike up mountains in the near vicinity and see the aurora borealis light up the sky on most nights. All in all, it was a wonderful, wholly unique experience that I’m so lucky to have had, and I would come back in a heartbeat. Tusen Takk!

I learned a lot during my two week stay (beginning of september) with Leikny. She has so much knowledge to share about the different fruits and vegtables , their growth periods, how to plant and take care of them. I mainly helped with the harvest of berries and potatoes, and all the other goodies needed for selling in the tent. The farm is surrounded by beautiful nature, directly at the sea side and close to forest and hills, I could use my free time to bike and hike which was super pleasant. I was there with one other workawayer and we helped for 6 hours per day with a big lunch break to eat and rest a bit. The weekends were competely free and the city of Tromso is accessible by bike and bus, so plenty of time to explore and quite easy to get there. Note: people who struggle with rooms not being tidy all the time and feel an importance of their surroundings being in good order, it might present a challenge to stay since the place does not always offer that. I had a good experience in the 2 weeks, thank you Leikny!

I stayed at Leikny's place for two months (from early July to late August) and really got to discover a lot of things. July was the perfect time for planting and preparing the greenhouse, while August was more focused on preparing orders for customers and harvesting (berries, lettuce, carrots, herbs, etc.). On weekends, there are great hiking opportunities and hitchhiking works well! During those two months, I lived in the house with Leikny and two other woofers, which allowed us to bond. Leikny knows and understands the needs of her farm but appreciates it when we suggest alternatives. Above all, she is keen to share what she knows about plants, fishing, Norwegian culture, and other topics with those who are interested, and takes time to explain. I am very grateful to her for everything she taught me and highly recommend her! PS: You will have the chance to see lots of reindeers ! Tusen Takk :)

In three weeks with Leikny, I learned so much about growing plants under Arctic conditions and feel very enriched. Leikny has a wealth of experience and enjoys sharing it with others. She provides insights into her Northern Norwegian way of life and is also very interested in the lifestyles and cultures of the wwoofers who are with her. She facilitates a great exchange of ideas. For me, our brief time living and working together with Leikny and two other absolutely lovely wwoofers in this beautiful setting in Northern Norway was a wonderful experience. A huge thank you, dear leikny and best wishes from simone.

We stayed at Leikny’s farm for 2 weeks in early June. We helped her with weeding, cutting grass, fertilizing fields, seeding and moving away some stuff. She has a great vision about her farm in the future and she will definitely appreciate some more help from other woofers. She is a kind lady, she always explained us what is to do and she also explained us something about agriculture above the polar circle. There are also many great hikes in the area of Leikny’s place and Tromso as well, I can only recommend you to visit her.
