Hey you! Thanks for checking out our profile. If you are interested in learning about all that goes into growing vegetables, we might just be the right place for you. Our farm is usually a lively and very social place with a lot of different fun people. A little note: we just had ha child, so Severin will be the one answering messages on the profile this year (2026) :) --- Extra note for foodies: If you are interested in coocking, we are actually looking for someone who wants to come and mainly prep the food for the volunteering group. It would mean that you would have your base in the kitchen and be our designated farm chef for the duration of your stay. Remember that we eat and serve mainly vegan food with vegetarian options. If it seems like something for you don't hesitate to contact us and tell us that spesifically :D --- The farm: Residents on the farm are Severin (33 from Norway), Emma (30 from Germany), Finn (76 from Norway), Evelyn (67 from Switzerland). Finn has been running the farm since 1981 and together with Evelyn since 1988. And Severin and Emma have officially taken over from 2023, but worked here many years before that. The tradition with inviting people from all over the world to live and work with us on the farm goes back all the way to the beginning in 1981. We like it very much when people come to us to participate in the life on the farm, and we are hoping that they leave with good memories and maybe even some new ideas about food production. As a WWOOF’er you will get to take part in all the activities we have going on. Our farming philosophy revolves around one base principle. Sustainability. That is a word that has been overused and honestly, misused in the last few years. But to us it means that every decision we make has to be based on a long term perspective. And the farm system we create has to work in such a way that it could keep on going for ever without destroying itself. In fact it should get better with every year that passes. The farm system in this case is the natural base that we rely on to be able to grow food organically. Soil Biodiversity Water If we farm well the water will stay clean, the biodiversity will get bigger and the soil will grow in depth and richness. Only with these basic buildingblocks in place can we make good and nutritios food into the future and eternity. That is unfortunately the oposite of what is happening out there in the majority of farmland of the industrialized world. Water is being polluted, biodiversity is declining at a reate never seen before and soils are beeing depleted and destroyed. If this keeps going on, soon a lot of the worlds farmland will be unfarmable dessert. What we are running is a system that builds in stead of destroing. And we do not just grow for ourselves, but seek to be a producer that can feed many, and thereby be an alternative to big extractive farming business. The vegetables are our main production and take up most of our time. We grow everything from flowers, berries, herbs and greenhouse crops like tomatoes and cucumbers to the real deal hearty vegetables like cabbage, potatoes, carrots and beets. Plus a variety of things in between. Our sales go either to private households through the farm-shop and web shop. Or to restaurants and shops in the area, mostly Oslo. We drive out to deliver every week. --- What you will get from staying with us: - Fun. There is always a lot of comotion and life on the farm. And there are many people woofing here at the same time and both the farm sessions, meals, evenings and weekends are full of jokes, laughter and good conversations. We encourage you to connect with each other both during work and freetime. Many friendships have been made here trough the years and a lot of people stay in touch, also after they leave the farm. - Activities. There are several beaches and nice hikes around the farm. These are usually used a lot by our visitors. We have bikes on the farm that make you mobile to explore. Plus people often band together to go on, citytrips to Oslo or other places in the area, or even other places in the country. - Knowledge. You will get full insight in how our operation works. We share freely about the tecniques we use and our philisophy. We will answer any question in depth and to the best of our ability. - Lifestyle. You will exeprince how it is to live close to nature in a small vibrant community setting. And we live mostly of the land etaing what is in season. Notes: -The spring and fall are usually a bit qieter than the middle of summer. -We encourage you to try and stay as long as possible. Mimimum 4 weeks. The longer you stay the deeper you will get into the experience and understanding of farm life. --- How a day and week looks when you are here: Monday to Friday: - 07:00 - 09:00 First session. Starts with a morning meeting where we talk about what going to happen on that day. - Breakfast break - 10:00 - 13:00 Second session - Warm luch - After luch the woofers are done for the day, the interns and farmers will do another session. Saturday and Sunday: -Weekend. Notes: - We also share different chores like cleaning, bringing out trash from the kitchen, feeding animals, watering/irrigation and such. These will largely be done outside the time listed above. - The food will be based on vegetables from the farm and you are free to harvest and eat what you want on weekends and afternoons when you will be responsible for your own meals. The kitchen is also always stocked with other supplies for you to use. - The accomodation is basic, a room with a bed, either in a small cabin or in the farm outhouse. We also have some shared rooms for the shorter stays. - Toilet and shower is shared and located in the center of the farm. --- We are exited for you - send us a message if you're interested!!! --- Closest bus stop: Bergsmyrene in Asker/Viken Use the "Ruter" and "Brakar" App to buy tickets for the bus. I had a really lovely time here. The farm was friendly, warm and social. The work we did was educational and fulfilling but not too hard. The people I stayed with were good company and I got along with them. Sev was good at leading and explaining tasks, giving us independence and being welcoming to different abilities. I enjoyed being vegetarian for a month, the food is great. The spaces are kept clean and functional - problems get fixed. I would definitely come again, for a longer period of time, to experience the full harvest or help with different tasks. Although I did not get to meet Emma, those running the farm were a pleasure to be around. Many thanks, Joe

I spent an amazing and educational month at Severin and Emma’s farm. The tasks were varied and Severin always organised different tasks for us to do during a day to avoid boredom. In August, we harvested tons of veggies (e.g. cucumbers, tomatoes, salad, cabbage, kale, garlic and much more), pruned some plants and weeded a lot. We didn’t work with the animals but you can still befriend the cows or hang out with the chickens:) We were allowed to eat the farm’s fresh produce as well as the sourdough bread baked by Emma, so the food was delicious (thanks also to Robin, our group’s cook). Speaking of food, it is worth mentioning that although this is a vegetarian farm, some people might buy meat for themselves. Luckily, we always had vegan lunch and a vegan-friendly filled fridge. As other’s have mentioned, the days are very structured with 7h of work (two of them are not mandatory for wwoofers, but we usually joined the interns for fun). The weekends are free, and you can either stay at the farm or explore the surrounding nature and cities. Oslo and Drammen are about 1-2h away by bus. The farm itself is beautiful and it’s comfortable to live there. Almost all volunteers had their own rooms (except for couples) and we shared shower, toilet and washing machine. There are dozens of bikes and a bus stop just at the farm’s door. Lovely co-volunteers and -workers included as well:) All in all, I had a fantastic time - thanks for having me!

I had a wonderful month wwoofing at Bergsmyrene ! Sev, Emma, Finn, and Evlyn are the nicest people ! The farm is very well organized, and the tasks are varied and clearly explained. During my stay, I sowed seeds, prepared beds, planted, weeded, pruned, and helped build a polytunnel (a type of greenhouse), all of it with great joy! In May, we didn’t harvest much (mostly spinach, garlic, and rhubarb), but we planted a lot: tomatoes, chilies, cucumbers, squash, beans, lettuces, cabbages, leeks, onions... This was very satisfying and exciting to be a part of, as the fields gradually filled with rows of young shoots that grow and start producing vegetables. During your free time, you can bike to multiple beaches of the Drammen fjørd and hike in the neighboring mountains. Otherwise, you’ll have the luxury of eating fresh bread made by Emma, trying Finn’s chili powders, and, if you’re bold, maybe learning new trampoline skills thanks to Sev. I had such a great time that I’ve already started recommending Bergsmyrene to several friends !

Wow, I haven't got enough words to describe my incredible experience at Bergsmyrene gård. Sev, Emma, Finn and Evelyn were incredible hosts, always open and funny, eager to tell you about everything they know and how they do things around the farm. A friend and I spent an incredible month at the farm, getting to learn so much about organic farming: seeding, planting, composting, setting up the greenhouses and plots for planting, as well as pruning, weeding and even a little bit of harvesting. If you are looking for a very busy yet rewarding experience, learning as much as you can about organic farming while having fun, meeting cool people and working in a team of 4-12 people, this farm is for you. The work hours are great, as we always worked from 8-16, with a lunch break at 11:30. This gave us the time to explore the area, go hiking, go for a swim at the nearby beach or sauna or just relax after the work day. Hurum is great, with a ton of beaches, hiking spots and lakes everywhere. Although the hikes aren't very tough, the sights from above are great. The accomodation is great, and if you're lucky, you might have one whole cabin for yourself. Food wise we normally always cooked vegan dishes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is always prepared by us volunteers, and shared among everyone. It was always a lot of fun eating with everyone. All in all, it was an incredible experience and I'd recommend it to everyone! I'll be back one day! Sev & Emma thank you so much! Till next time!

despite the fact that we contacted severin and emma only the night before the beginning of our stay, they replied very quickly, called us and gave a very clear description of the tasks we would do during our (short) stay. they have very good systems in place for managing both the farm and wwoofers: task division among people, cleaning dishes straight away, also a scheduled meeting every week to discuss emotional wellbeing. they have a very structured schedule, which in these days was 7:30-8:30 breakfast, 8:30-11:30 work, 11:30-12:30 lunch, 12:30-16 work, dinner at 16 and then free time to explore the beautiful area or relax. in addition to this, severin, emma and finn are the most welcoming, interesting and fun people!!! :) during our short stay, we did a lot of different things: seeding, weeding, preparing the beds with manure, planting tomatoes, harvesting spinach and foraging wild herbs. thank you severin emma and finn, we would like to be back soon to help you for a longer period of time!
