Welcome to Olavsbråten – an organic farm built on community, respect, and meaningful work. We do believe in Christ, and are planning to make a meal-centred church during 2026! At Olavsbråten we live close to nature and run our farm organically, with respect for the animals, the land, and each other. We keep dairy sheep and goats, and an important part of life here is caring for the animals and processing the milk. We also have chickens and 4 cows. As a volunteer, you may take part in milking, cheese-making, and packaging dairy products. We are also in the process of renovating and restoring old farm buildings. A lot of the work therefore involves practical tasks such as carpentry, painting, and general maintenance. Most of what we do is about caring for this place so that it remains good for both people and animals. The work and daily rhythm naturally follow the seasons, which means that tasks and priorities will vary throughout the year. Life here is not just about the work. We value community, respect, and creating a good atmosphere together. We share meals and daily life, and we are looking for volunteers who want to contribute with openness and a willingness to be part of an inclusive community based on christian values. What you can take part in: 🐑 Helping with the animals: milking, care, and milk packaging, chickens and cows. 🧀 Assisting with cheese-making and milk processing 🛠️ Supporting renovation and maintenance of farm buildings 🌱 General (farm)work, firewood, fencing, daily routines and kitchen tasks etc Where we are: The farm is beautifully located near the Norefjell mountains, with great opportunities for hiking and enjoying nature. We are about 1.5 hours from Oslo and Gardermoen Airport, and close to Hønefoss, Drammen, and Kongsberg. Before you apply: Please think carefully about whether you want to join us — to share both the work and daily life of the community, where mutual respect and care for nature are core values. Tell us why you would like to come, what tasks interest you, and what you hope to contribute and learn. The longer you stay, the more responsibility and insight you will gain. Practical: We have space for one couple / or two friends that are ok sleeping in a double bed. We also have a summer cabin with madrasses for hosting some more people during som more hectical periods :) Accommodation is simple and close to nature (similar to glamping), and this is part of the experience. Please come prepared with suitable clothing for outdoor living. We cook on fire stoves. Eating: We eat one warm meal alltogether in the middle of the day. And for evening and morning and else, you serve yourselves with crackers / musli / yoghurt and simple cooking on the stove if you are comfortable with that :) We warmly welcome you to join us!

We had our first wwoof experience at the farm of Veslemøy and Bjørn where we stayed for over 6 weeks. And we really enjoyed it! They’re very friendly, warm hearted and open minded. Who were very relaxed and flexible. They love to share their knowledge, things and time with you. On working days we got tasks to do, where we spent approximately 4h time on per person. But it was more important that the task was done instead of the actual time. This was ideal with the kids, because it didn’t matter either when we needed more time. Tasks we had were; Animal care, taking care of baby goats and sheep, milking, putting up fences, drive their products for delivery to Oslo and tidy things up in and around the farm. We really liked the work and even spend time on the farm in our day’s off The farm is beautiful located, with an amazing view at the lake and mountains. We were accommodated I a fully equipped house a 10 minute walk from the farm. Which you share with others. There was a lot of space and a garden where the kids loved to play. The house needed some cleaning (you our standard) when we arrived, but that truly has to do with other wwoofers living there. We had the inconvenience that the power and water system stopped. But with some creativity we worked around it, and usually it got fixed. Groceries were supplied each week. And we loved to bake our own sourdough bread. We’re very grateful and love to come back!! (We travelled with a 4 and 1,5 year old)

Mylène and I had a really nice experience of one week at Veslemøy and Bjørn's farm. There is always a nice project going on here (construction of chicken houses, feed and take care of goats, ships and cows, cut wood, ...), and Bjørn was never far away to help us if we needed. The farm is respectful of the animals and we spent really great times we them. Thank you for this welcoming and see you soon!

I stayed at Olavsbraten for 2 weeks for my first WWOOFing experience, and it was a really positive one. I learned a lot about animal care and dairy production, and the work itself was genuinely fun. The woofer house was a lovely place to stay, we ate plenty of great food and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming throughout. Bjørn and Veslemøy are funny and hospitable hosts who made me feel completely at ease from the start. One thing worth noting is that public transport access is limited, so exploring beyond the farm requires some planning. That said, I visited in March when the lake was still frozen solid, perfect for a walk across it, which was a highlight in itself!

I stayed for almost 6 weeks. It was exactly what I was looking for. I've learned a lot about animal care, wood cutting, renovating an old wood cabin, using a tractor, the making of different dairy products, ... It was also a great opportunity to meet a lot of nice people, and not just other wwoofers. The hosts are great. You will especially spend a good amount of time with Bjørnstjerne. He is a very funny and nice guy. They do not ask a ton work-wise. You will have food in good quantities but be aware that you will have to cook everything for yourself with the other wwoofers. Perhaps, one downside is that it's hard to leave the farm on your days off since public transport is bad there. Thanks Bjørnstjerne and Veslemøy. Maybe I'll be back someday.

My stay at Olavsbråten was really nice. You had very different tasks which made it interesting. From animal care (feeding, milking, cleaning), building projects, chopping wood to helping with the dairy products. The atmosphere down at the volunteers house was warm and joyful. Also Bjørn and Veslemøy are really kind and funny. If you are looking for an open-minded farm in a beautiful surrounding, where you can learn a lot this is the place to go :)

Bjorn and Veslemoy were the most welcoming hosts - I learned so much, and they create an atmosphere of genuine kindness and joy. They helped us feel comfortable and happy, and I enjoyed every moment on their lovely farm :)
