I offer two different types of stay in south-western Norway, neither of which is a farm. Please read the whole description, please answer the questions and please dont call it a farm in your application. I mostly need help in spring April, May, June, and in autumn 27 August - 18 September and October. The main site is Kvednaflaat, a woodland-cum-holiday centre, which is not permanently lived in, and has no internet access, and only occasional mobile cover age. The area comprises 90 hectares of woodland, a lake, and lots of rock. The location is fairly remote, without through traffic: the nearest public transport is the bus stop in Helleland - an hours walk away and 15 minutes by car. There are no domestic animals other than bees. There are lots of learning opportunities: in the wood, building maintenance and improvement, organic growing in and out of the polytunnel, and of course beekeeping. Accommodation is in simple rooms with one or two bunkbeds, shared bathrooms, dining room, lounge and kitchen - there usually is the option to have your own bedroom. Although the main work is in the woodland it is occasionally possible to combine with a homestay in Sola (an hour away from the woodland by car) concentrating on a more traditional organic fruit garden and home maintenance. I try to tailor the stays to the guest I have, so please do tell me what you are interested in learning and wanting out of your WWOOF experience. Plans for 2025 include: manuring the polytunnel and adding a new raised bed, maintenance inside the main house (spring cleaning, painting, repairs), growing food (gathering, planting sowing harvesting preserving - in the polytunnel and outside), reroofing the woodsheds, constructing a new woodshed, filling the woodsheds (clearing windfell and felling trees, chopping with splitter or ax, stacking of wood), optionally learning to make beams and planks using a mobile sawmill, and optionally beekeeping (constructing hive materials, managing bees, extracting honey). The coordinate reference is the lake by the woodland, which is also where the first five pictures were taken. The homestay is in Sola close to Stavanger. In the past organised activities have been up to 5 hrs per day 5 days per week. We share three meals a day, which can be vegetarian/vegan if you wish. Learning breadbaking (or exchanging best bread receipes) is definitely in the plans. I expect you to arrange your own accident and travel insurance. If this sounds interesting please write me an message, explaining why you want to come to Norway, why you selected me, which opportunity you are interested in, how this fits in with your travels, what you feel I can offer you, and what you feel you can offer me. I look forward to hearing from you, by message - and after that hopefully meeting you! Certifications: I have never used either pesticides, or non-organic fertilisers, and to my knowledge they have never been used on the property. However I do not have organic certification (expensive). Although I can accomodate larger Wwoof groups this has not happened since Covid.

My time in Kvednaflaat with Ingrid was more than fantastic. The tasks we did were arranged to my interests, making my stay filled with exciting learning. Ingrid has so much experience with WWOOF and is a great teacher. I always felt welcomed and comfortable. Could not have been better for my first WWOOF experience!

I spent one month with Ingrid in May, felt very welcome and I absolutely loved it there. For most of my stay I was the only Wwoofer, so we were very flexible in our time and what we did. We mostly decided in the mornings what we both were up to. I always had several options to choose from and Ingrid made sure I felt comfortable and safe doing them, always followed by big thanks and appreciation for getting jobs done. My tasks during my stay were wood splitting, painting, repairing of odd things, helping with the bees, weeding, building the frame for the new polytunnel, helping with cleaning of the rental cabin and much more. I mostly worked in the morning and was free in my afternoons. That’s when I went swimming, canoeing, hiking, did lots of reading on the terrace at sunny days and inside the cozy cabin at rainy ones. Ingrid recommended me several walks and drove me to places on the days when we were in Sola. She always tried to give me off on the nice days with good weather (I say ‘tried’ as the weather forecast just isn't really reliable :D) Ingid, I already miss our late afternoon swims in the lake, cozy afternoons in the cabin just reading next to each other with the fire going and a tea from your plants. I loved your positive vibe and the talks we had. I will keep my time with you in dear memory. I am not sure if this text even comes close to how much I’d like to thank you for the t

Ingrid was my first WWOOF host, which means I don't have much to compare her to. Despite this, I am confident in recommending Kvednaflaat. I spent the majority of my stay in Sola, where work mostly consisted of house maintenance (vacuuming, cleaning, paint prep, etc). I was not particularly happy with this work, as it didn't really feel like I was learning valuable organic farming skills. However, the last few days in Sola were focused entirely on organic garden work, which I found both interesting and fun. I also spent two days in the main location, Kvednaflaat. While there, Ingrid, myself, and another WWOOF guest put up a polytunnel frame. This work was quite intense but very enjoyable. The area surrounding Kvednaflaat is especially beautiful, and the Sola location isn't horribly far from some amazing hikes. Ingrid herself is a great host that focuses on teaching skills or information relating to her gardens and bees. She was happy to answer my constant questions and did not expect perfection. She was also eager to help when I was met with challenges, regardless of whether or not they were related to her gardens. Overall, I enjoyed my stay with Ingrid. While some of the work was dreary and felt somewhat disconnected from farm work, the pleasant work and good company made up for it.

I really enjoyed my time with Ingrid beekeeping, and learned so much about sustainable living. Kvednaflaat is beautiful and I really enjoyed going down to the lake and exploring the surrounding hills. I learned a lot about making bread and enjoying little moments, rest and the calmness of the environment. Ingrid is a lovely host and I’m so grateful for her kindness and spirit. I’ll always have fond memories of wheelbarrowing hives through the tall grass and harvesting the honey after getting them ready for winter and checking on their laying, as a novice beekeeper I appreciate that my time spent in Kvednaflaat with Ingrid will help my bees. Thank you Ingrid, I wish you and all your future wwoofers the best!

I stayed with Ingrid for 3 weeks in June as my first WWOOF experience. I cant think of a better person to be my first host. She is one of the most generous and kind individuals I've ever met. Ingrid was always happy to answer any questions I had about anything and offer advice. Kvednaflaat is beautiful and so easy to fall in love with. There's no such thing as work with Ingrid, its all fun. If you're going to WWOOF, find someone like Ingrid.
