What a wonderful experience at Hakkesetstøllen! Torild welcomed us warmly for 3 weeks in Easter season. Besides preparing the rooms and doing outside works, we highly enjoyed the outdoor nature, hiking and daily skating. The lodge is hold in a traditional norwegian way : a cosy café with sooo good waffels during the day, and nice shared diners with visitors and locals in the evening. Thank you again Torild, we had a amazing experience with you and your family. We hope you again soon! Mylène & Côme

I had my first WWOOF experience at Nat and Morten's farm and it was great! They are really welcoming, open and funny. They have many projects to make this place the farm of their dreams. I helped with pruning the black current bushes, building the outside watertap, chopping wood and preparing the vegetable and flower beds. It's nice how they involved me in their lives during my stay and made me feel welcome.

My first experience of being a “wwoofare” and coming to Leikny gave me a very good experience of being a “wwoofare”. Leikny has a long experience of growing organic vegetables and she was very good at sharing her knowledge. I also appreciated Leikny’s written division of labor on the tasks we “wwoofare” would perform every day. Leikny cooked good traditional Norwegian food and she invited us “wwoofrare” to cook our favorite dishes. We ate all meals together and we helped in the kitchen which created a nice community. Leiknys spoke very well of all the “woofrare” who had been with her and everything she had learned from them in terms of cooking and other practical knowledge they had giving her. I recommended Leikny for all who wante to learn about growing organic vegetables and live in a nice community.

It was amazing. Our hosts were so friendly and nice. They took time showing us around, explaining their way of farming and living. They made typical food for us. The work was nice, we learned new things about sheep’s. The room was cozy with amazing views. We‘d really recommend this wonderful place with such nice people.

What started as six weeks eventually turned into three months – that actually says it all. We had a very varied and educational time with Ann Marlen and Gry. We learned a lot about bees and honey and even got to make our own beeswax candles. We also cut down trees and processed them into firewood, completely rebuilt the interior of a animal shed, drove a tractor, and redesigned the goat enclosure with a new fence – just to name a few of the many activities. Ann Marlen is a very pleasant and exceptionally relaxed person. She trusted us with almost everything without placing high demands on us. This allowed us to try out many things, contribute our own ideas, and broaden our horizons. We enjoyed caring for the animals and I will definately miss playtime with the goats, especially cheeky Melvin. Thank you for the educational time with you.

I am so glad that I had my first Wwoofing experience with Barb and Bruno, and grandma Anna! It was only a weekend, but staying with them was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed the tasks I got, it helped that I was there on sunshiney days. Even when it started drizzling, the workflow was good. I enjoyed eating meals together both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The conversations flowed well and I felt included even though I was the only non-German speaker. I was taught a bit of German here and there too! It was also nice to have the company of another Wwoofer at the farm. We went exploring parts of the island after working hours and got fabulous views. The accomodation, my room in the barn was cozy, I spent little time there. I totally recommend them as a host family! I hope to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Nat and Morten‘s. The two of them welcomed us with open arms, tasty food, inspiring meal introductions before eating togheter, a beautiful home with a magical room, in which we felt safe and warm and lots of good stories! We did prunning for the black curents, could assist the bee-keeping, helped digging a path for the water pipeline, prepared the beds, planted a small amount of parsley and were trusted with the project of building a stair. It was real fun speaking so many different languages! The two of them are really caring, kind and funny :) Thank you guys for hosting us!

Oh God where do I begin…. The location is obviously just breathtaking and you don’t need me to tell you that you just have to be there but what made this experience worth it were the people there. Sindre and Frida are one of the most welcoming and kindest people I’ve ever met, they will absolutely make sure you’re comfortable and happy with the work, And to top it all off they just bring good vibes. So if you’re ready to put in a good few hours of work with them, and are a decent human being trust me you gon have funnn ;).

I stayed at Njågarden with David for 2.5 weeks and had a really great experience. I truly enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend it to others. The working hours were fair and well balanced, and there was a lot of flexibility through communication and mutual agreement, which made the stay feel comfortable and relaxed. During my time there I learned a lot about farm life, the forest, daily routines, and the work involved on a Norwegian farm. The surroundings are beautiful, with many great places nearby for walking, hiking, or running. It is also a good location if you would like to visit Stavanger, Preikestolen, and other scenic spots in the area. One thing to keep in mind is that there can be quite a lot of alone time, so it helps if you are comfortable being independent and enjoying your own company. For me, that was completely fine and part of the experience. Overall, I had a very positive stay and I’m grateful for the experience. Thank you, David!

I had a wonderful time at Helene’s place. I stayed about three months last summer and felt right at home. In July, I helped with other wwoofers harvesting hay. The field is on a slope, and the grass is still dried on racks in the traditional Norwegian way. It’s sweaty work in the hot sun, but after a day, you know exactly what to do and can just get on with it while having a great time with Helene and the other volunteers. Whenever we finished work or took a break, we could jump into the amazing lake just a five-minute walk away. Helene also let us borrow her canoe, which we took out for paddles a lot. From late August into September, we mostly focused on repairing things around the farm, which I really enjoyed. For example I got to build several new gates. In between tasks, I could cuddle the lovely dogs and sheep and saw how much Helene truly cares for them. In the kitchen, we were free to cook whatever we liked. I ended up baking a lot of cakes and pies, which we all enjoyed together outside in the sun. We always had fresh eggs from the garden chickens and sometimes I could make jam once the berries were ripe. Early October was 'Wool Week,' where Helene and a friend hosted workshops on spinning and natural dyeing. We helped out by keeping the fires going for the dyeing process and keeping the guests happy with homemade cake. I met so many nice people and I’ll definitely come back. Thanks so much for the amazing time!

We had our first wwoof experience at the farm of Veslemøy and Bjørn where we stayed for over 6 weeks. And we really enjoyed it! They’re very friendly, warm hearted and open minded. Who were very relaxed and flexible. They love to share their knowledge, things and time with you. On working days we got tasks to do, where we spent approximately 4h time on per person. But it was more important that the task was done instead of the actual time. This was ideal with the kids, because it didn’t matter either when we needed more time. Tasks we had were; Animal care, taking care of baby goats and sheep, milking, putting up fences, drive their products for delivery to Oslo and tidy things up in and around the farm. We really liked the work and even spend time on the farm in our day’s off The farm is beautiful located, with an amazing view at the lake and mountains. We were accommodated I a fully equipped house a 10 minute walk from the farm. Which you share with others. There was a lot of space and a garden where the kids loved to play. The house needed some cleaning (you our standard) when we arrived, but that truly has to do with other wwoofers living there. We had the inconvenience that the power and water system stopped. But with some creativity we worked around it, and usually it got fixed. Groceries were supplied each week. And we loved to bake our own sourdough bread. We’re very grateful and love to come back!! (We travelled with a 4 and 1,5 year old)
