Stein welcomed me and my 12-year-old son on his farm in the middle of the winter. He has a lot to share and knowledge to pass on, whether it is about the history of Norway, agricultural policies or the story of his family who lives on the farm since 1650..! His political responsibilities in "La Via Campesina" land workers international union, on top of the farm work, make him very busy and there is lots you can do to help. Between the animal care and the transformation of milk into butter or into "Brown cheese" (Great Norwegian speciality), the discovery of his family's traditional dishes and the environment of the fjord, it was a really meaningful and interesting experience. The employee who works on the farm is very nice and has integrated us well into his tasks. The farm is located in an incredible environment, on a fjord between the mountains, where one can walk Kaysa, his lovely haunting dog. Stein also invited us to discover cross-country skiing and net fishing with him, but unfortunately we had to leave the farm earlier than expected for health reasons. Thank you Stein for sharing so many things and allowing us to discover all that!

Leine Merino was a wonderful experience. The farm is situated in a beautiful mountain surrounding. You can go skiing, sledging,... You can learn how to colour wool or try out nålebinding. If you are interested in animals and farming, there will be a lot of things to learn and the farmer can explain you a lot. Thank you for everything!

My stay at these beautiful farm was truly wonderful. It was my second wwoof experience in norway. The welcome was incredibly warm and friendly, because that's exactly how the hosts are and also the whole family. I missed nothing in the three weeks, and I would say the connection between us was really well. The tasks (take care of animals, care snow, repair and build something) in this snowy time were manageable and completely pressure-free with much trust from the two hosts. So I am very thankful and hope we see us again...vi ses!

I spent 3 weeks in january and february and I had a nice experience at Leine Merino! Every day we fed the sheeps (and even saw several newborn lambs), learned how to dye wool, and enjoyed the beautiful landscape by walking, running, skiing, sledding, and more. (For nature lovers it’s a very wonderfull place) On top of that, we made delicious homemade meals and snacks together. There was a real sense of community, even though the group dynamic wasn’t always perfect. Winter is a very quiet period, so don’t hesitate to bring things to keep yourself busy or to ask Anders what there is to do. Anders made sure we had everything we needed — we always made together a grocery list. He was also always willing to drive us to the sledding or skiing slopes and to help us explore the area. He has lots of interesting facts and stories to share as well. If you’re afraid of dogs, you definitely shouldn’t hesitate to come — even I, who am usually very scared of dogs, am going to miss the three dogs (the cat a little less). Thank you for the experience!

I had the chance to stay at Birte’s farm on the island from October to December, with my French friend Dorian, and this experience will remain memorable. The living environment is exceptional: it’s a perfect place to disconnect from city life. The landscapes on the island are beautiful, with lovely sunsets and a peaceful atmosphere. The work schedule is balanced and never too demanding. Mornings were mostly feeding animals and cleaning enclosures, and afternoons were for DIY or maintenance tasks, like building a new pig enclosure or creating two new gardens. Birte adapts the work to your skills: if you enjoy DIY, you will find interesting projects, but even without skills, there is always something to learn and help with. The accommodations are comfortable and well-heated. Birte is a very good cook and introduces you to Norwegian specialties, and thanks to Rune for all the Cinnamon Rolls! Beyond the work, Birte shares her skills in fishing, hunting, sailing, and cooking. We also did some hikes and a weekend in Bergen, about 1h30 from the island. In short: a positive and enriching experience, in a beautiful setting, with kind and welcoming hosts. Many thanks to Birte and Rune. I highly recommend this farm. Dorian P and Quentin K

Well where should I start. It was my first woofing experience and I had a very good time. I've been there for about 7 weeks during December/January, so quite the darkest time of the year. But that made me feel very calm and cozy. I had my own cabin at the beginning, which I really appreciated because it gave me a lot of space and time to arrive and adapt. The tasks were very clear and routine. There was never a 'have to' but a 'want to' what I value a lot. The working times were extremely flexible so you could work longer on one day to work less on another. Sometimes it got a bit chaotic BUT I think that this is totally normal when you have to coordinate a lot of stuff. A little 'chaos' is part of life. What I really want to point out is the hospitality and the support I received. The family was very welcoming and I could go or join for any activity - they helped me out, invited me or drove me somewhere when it was possible. Tusend takk for all the opportunities and experiences!

Well, hard to resume this adventure in a few words. I stayed for 3 mths, first time woofing and I couldn't dream any better ! First contact on the website, pretty easy. Then phone call to make everything clear (dates, work, routine..). Most of the time, we worked in the afternoon (3h to 5h) to have the morning free. The tasks were really various : sorting potatoes, cutting wood, moving furniture, gluing slates for sauna floor, shoveling snow... I didn't know to do any of that before so don't be scared ! Mathieu takes time to teach you and answer all questions. Just keep in mind : flexibility. Becoming a part of the family is awesome for a lot of reasons (vegetarian diet, knowledge, ambiance...) but that also means being ready to approximately suit their lifestyle, which being a family of 3 can sometimes be unpredictable (school, meetings, disagreement...). Once you're fine with that : the dream can start. The place is amazing : I had a nice room+bathroom in the hotel, right between the bottom of the Lyngen Alpes and the majestic fjord. I chose to only discover the surroundings and was never bored of it. Forest, mountain, aurora, bird, otter, moose... The best is just to ask them. They know perfectly their place and will be happy to share tips or even bring you ! Anyway, I can easily say I've never been happier in my 22y of life. If you want to see concrete images, there should be a documentary on my YouTube channel ''Artlau'' soon. Ingunn, Mathieu, Fredrik, Tusen Takk !! 🙏

I had a wonderful stay with Terje and Grete. Since I was there during the winter, the two main tasks were feeding the 45 sheep every morning (it quickly became a routine) and chopping wood for heating. I even got to try out many different wood-cutting tools that I had never used before! Terje was a great teacher, he knows a lot about Norway, the mountains, the trees, the mushrooms (even the dinosaurs!), and he was patient when I tried new things on the farm (like chopping logs with an axe). Grete didn't work with us outside, but she was also very generous with me : she lent me knitting supplies and gave me yarn so I could knit hats, and she shared her delicious homemade mutton pizza on saturdays! If you come in the heart of winter, like I did, bring warm clothes, even for indoors, as the kitchen reserved for WWOOFers in winter is very cold (but the rest of the house is well heated, and the duvet is very thick). Amidst the magnificent scenery and sheep, I had a wonderful time, I've never slept so well, and I'm very glad I met Terje and Grete.

I stayed with Kristine and Svein for one week in October. It was a very nice week and I helped out with different things on the farm. I fed the animals, planted garlic, harvested and cleaned some vegetables, and helped with painting in their kitchen renovation, among other things. I also had a wonderful time picking mushrooms in the beautiful forest nearby, and I had the chance to learn how to shear the sheep and spin the wool into yarn. The family made me feel very welcome and I will definitely try to come back again. I highly recommend this farm!

My stay at Olavsbråten was really nice. You had very different tasks which made it interesting. From animal care (feeding, milking, cleaning), building projects, chopping wood to helping with the dairy products. The atmosphere down at the volunteers house was warm and joyful. Also Bjørn and Veslemøy are really kind and funny. If you are looking for an open-minded farm in a beautiful surrounding, where you can learn a lot this is the place to go :)

I stayed for 1 month at Opsal Gard for my first experience of wwoofing and it's been an Amazing experience ! In December the weather is quiet rude and it's really interesting to experiment this, at this period it's a lot of wood working but if you don't really enjoy it Georgiana is really open and let you make different work for don't be bored. She was very kind, she shared a lot of experiences and she invited the wwoofeurs to join her for meditating or others exercices like that. I have the chance to be with incredible people during my month and it's probably the biggest human experiences of my life, I learn a lot about me and open my mind for a lot of topics. I really recommend this place if you want to make beautiful memories and meet some people with the same expectations. Thank you again Georgiana for this incredible experience and for let people be able to live that moment 😊
