HORSE FARM WITH BREEDING. SUCKLER COW AND SHEEP.
My name is Maria, and I am a horse and sheep farmer. My farm is run according to organic principles, without pesticides or artificial fertilizers. I breed Icelandic horses and Døl horses (Norwegian working horses). I have a of old Norwegian Spele sheep. I addition I have a few cattle. My daughters Sara Og Selma have horses on the farm and are involved in the business.
You should be an independent, reliable team player who can be a valuable part of our farm. You should be honest, sincere and respectful towards the people and animals you will work with.
You should be willing to actively participate in daily tasks and occasional work on the farm. And be interested in learning how and why.
I would not recommend those with allergies for hay or animals to stay with us.
You will work on the farm five days a week and have two days off. The activities on the farm change with the seasons. In winter, the focus is on feeding, caring for and cleaning the animals, as well as training and taming the horses. Spring is dedicated to preparing the summer pastures. It is also time for foaling, lambing and calving, which require close attention. In summer, the focus is on supervising the animals on pasture. There is also time for some painting work and maintenance and installation of fences. We have a wood machine and want to maintain a good production of wood.
There is a cozy guest apartment on the farm where the WWOOFers live in teams. It has a well-equipped kitchen, living room with TV, a bathroom and a laundry room. We of course want respectful use of the apartment. Where each individual cleans up after themselves in the kitchen and the rest of the apartment.
Meals: Different ways are practiced. Some people want to cook their own food, and some like to have a shared meal. This is agreed and practiced by prior arrangement. Maria buys food according to each individual's wishes.
On days off, there are a number of activities to do. The surrounding area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with many fishing lakes, beaches and countless marked hiking trails. Maria has a "koja" out in the wilderness, which can be visited and used.
