Eco Lodge/Wilderness Adventures, Livestock Farm
Innlandet
Do you like to spent time at our farm during the lambing season from the end of April unntil the beginning of june???
We are looking for 1-2 people at this time. If this sounds interesting please send us a request 🐑😁.
We are a family of 5 and are living at the mountainfarm Tunnbrottet at 680 meter above see level, in Mid-Norway. At the time we have 100 sheep of old traditional specie, 9 icelandic horses, cats, a border collie and a few ducks and chicken. The last years we have been restarting the farm, aiming for future eco-tourisme, including riding. We are still rebuilding the farm and need help with everything. Our breed of sheep is Old Norwegian, who gives nice tender meat and exclusive skins in a nice specter of colours. These products we sell directly from our farm. April and May is busy times with recieving about 200 lambs :) During summer, June-September, most sheep are grazing in the mountains. At this period we are looking after the animals in the mountains. Some bottle-lambs stay at the farm all summer. Also harvesting and hay-making in a traditional way, looking after the vegetables and herbs, building work and training horses are tasks at our farm! We grow some organic vegetables and herbes on the farm and want to increase our production, to be most self-sufficient. We are a family of five - Anja, Tomas and three girls, aged 16-14-9. Anja is an international certified Kundalini yoga teacher, Tomas is working full time at the farm, developing our eco-tourisme and ordinary farm work. Both working on the farm, interested in organic lifestyle, cooking and nature experiences! We seek volunteers to rebuild our farm and to help out in the daily life. Tasks will be taking care of animals, feeding, lambing, herding in the mountains, hay-making, fencing, building and carpentry in stable, sheep house and a new rental cabbin, clearing bushes and forrest on grazing land, childcare! In the nearby surrondings you will find Forollhogna National Park, rich with local culture and agricultural way of living, wild reindeers and other wild life. In short walking distance you find Tunna river - an excellent playground for fly fishing! Hard work is a promiss, as well as fantastic experiences from the tundra in Norway. For all seasons volunteers must bring warm working clothes and bootes (in winter extra high and warm boots), waterproof jacket and pants, working gloves. Camera and binoculares are usefull tools to bring. Accomodation will be in nice heated caravan. Bikes and skies can be borrowed. The farm is situated remote in the mountains, with just a few neighboring farms. 15 minutes drive to nearest village Tynset, where you find the train station, bus and other city facillities.
Vegetarians - Over the last years we have been hosting very nice wwoofers, also vegetarians. It is interesting to see how many young people from France and Germany who are or trying to be vegetarien. Since we are a proud producer of high quality meet, and we focus on developing this aspect, I think we as a host is better of with non-vegetarians.
Organic methods: Sheep and lambs grazing in the wild forrest and mountains.
Organic fertilisation of vegetable and partly grass land.
Certifications: Not certified since we need some extra fertilizer due to high altitude and very short season.
Current projects: Building kitchen for processing meet and restaurant food for guests. Also a small stable for horses.
Fixing the old stable/barn. Diverse improvement for animal care.
Developing marketing for our future guests.

I spent three incredible weeks at Anja and Tomas' farm, and it was truly one of the most enriching and memorable experiences of my life. This remote mountain farm offers breathtaking natural beauty and a deep sense of peace, purpose, and community.
From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the whole family—Anja, Tomas, and their three wonderful daughters. Every day was filled with meaningful tasks and joyful moments, whether feeding the animals, helping with lambing (so cute!), training horses, doing various carpentry and building projects, or simply sharing delicious meals and conversations around the kitchen table.
The accommodation was comfortable and met all of my needs, and the surrounding nature is unique and nice to explore in free time!
Anja and Tomas are incredibly inspiring people, deeply committed to their animals and creating a welcoming space that blends eco-tourism, farming, and wellness. If you're looking for an authentic, hands-on WWOOFing experience in a beautiful and peaceful part of Norway—where your work truly matters and you're embraced like part of the family—then this is the perfect place for you. I left with new skills, unforgettable memories, and a full heart. I hope to return one day!
Tusen takk, Anja, Tomas, and family!

I stayed on this farm for 6 weeks during lambing season and it was truly an amazing stay. Tomas, Anja and their family were very welcoming and made me feel like a part of their family.
Tomas and Anja want you to get a realistic view on the farm life so you get to experience a lot of different work - from helping sheep with giving birth, prepare the sheep for their stay in the mountains, feeding the sheep, ducks and horses to deconstruct old fences and build new ones or painting windows - you get to experience everything that has to be done on a farm. I had two days off per week (sometimes it was two half days off instead of one whole day) so I had a lot of time to see the amazing nature that surrounds the farm.
I really enjoyed my time here and would love to come back one day.

October 2019
Tunnbrottet gard welcomed me and my boyfriend during 2 months. It was an amazing experience for us ! The main task we had to do between august and october was to go for trips in the mountain to bring the sheeps back to the farm, because they was free in the mountain during the summer. It was so fun to do this !
We learned so much about lambs and sheeps. Sometime you can ride with the beautiful horses they have ! Tomas and Anja like to teach you lots of things and they do it well ! Whatever is concerning animals, nature or just life in general.
The farm is really in the nature, everywhere you look you see the mountain and the forest, they live in a really nice area. During your day off there is a lots of things you can do, go hiking in the forest or go to the top of some high mountains, go to the waterfall.. The farm is also not so far from Trondheim and Roros, two really pretty cities.
Tomas, Anja, Hanna Sofie, Lotta Marie and Ingvill are the members of a nice familly who take care to welcome well the wwoofers, that you feel confortable.
We will never forget all we learned and seen in Tunnbrottet.

My friend and I volunteered on Thomas and Anja’s farm for almost 7 weeks from October to December and it was truly an amazing experience. We learned a lot about sheep, ate a lot of good food, and in general had a very rich stay there. Plus they have three young daughters who are delightful to be around and love to hang out with you. I would definitely recommend volunteering there if you are looking for hard work and a great place to learn!

November 2017
We stayed 4 weeks between October and November for the sheering of the wool. The place and hospitality is amazing, pictures and reviews of the place do not do it justice. Truly amazing! The caravan where we stayed was really clean and well presented with a fully functioning central heating system (if you are worried). Food was amazing and we were allowed to make home dishes as well which was a great touch as well as trying Norwegian dishes with meat from the farm.
Anja and Tomas were so welcoming and made us feel part of the family and really integrated us with the children, who, apart from the little one, can speak amazing English.
We learned so much during our stay with sheep care and general farm care. We did things we never thought we could do like trimming the sheep hooves and riding Icelandic horses through the snow! The landscape surrounding is beautiful, especially when covered in snow.
We would really recommend applying here if you want to learn about farm life and love a rewarding days work in a beautiful area of Norway.
Thank you for our stay and if you come to Cornwall don't forget to let us know!

I spent four weeks at the farm during lambing season from mid May until June. The landscape is unbeatable and pictures do not do the nature justice! Hard work is to be expected, but it is a nice mixture of farm work and personal time. Anja and Tomas provide comfortable living arrangements and are super kind and inviting. The kids are extremely sweet and energetic (be prepared to jump on the trampoline!) and are eager to help you in the barn. Tynset is a really cute town and Trondheim is only a two hour bus ride away, so on your days off they are nice to explore. (As long as you can get on the bus back!) I learned a lot during my stay here, especially practical work, such as fence fixing, tractor driving, and backing trailers. This trip was my first time outside of America, first time on a train, first time on a public bus, and first time where English was not the primary language spoken and it was an awesome learning experience!
Thank you for opening your home to me and making me feel like a part of the family! Hopefully you will find yourselves in America sometime soon... hope you're hungry for some crabs too. :)
