Thomas and Kathrin are running the farm organic, with 45 milkinggoats, 4 horses, hens and 2 cats. On the farm we are making unpastaurized goat cheese, wooden skis, handicrafts in wood and goatskin, nature interpretation, serving farmfood to visitors /agrotourism and traching cheesemaking and summerfarming to groups. We are taking care of the biodiveristy in our fields by grazing with goats and horses, and cutting gras for hey. We produce most of the our own meat and vegetables at the farm and are concerned about (re)using natural resources. There is no electricity at the summer farm and outdoor water supply. We move the animals to the summer farm around 15. june and back around 5. september. Work for WWOOFers is helping with grass cutting and hey storing, weeding and maintaining the kitchen garden, moving animals from one gracing area to another and all kind of daily manual work on an organic farm. Accomodation is in a small cabin on the farm with 2 signle beds and wooden stowe, with acces to a seperate bathroom and livingroom in the workshop in the newly renowated barn. We eat 3 meals together in the mainhouse, and there is a teakitchen in the linigroom in the barn. We like people to stay at least 3 weeks, since it takes some time to get used to the life on the farm and the manual work:-) We can have 1 or 2 people at a time on our farm. Organic methods: We are Debio organic sertified and producing organic goatmilk, cheese, milkproducts and meat. Certifications: Handlaget ved Thomas Aslaksby Current projects: Our seasonal working plan - March to april the goat kids are born, and we need help to take care and look after the small kids. Prepering for milking and cheesemaking. May - september kitchengarden work . We are milking and cheesemaking from may - september in mobile cheesewagon, home at the farm and then for 3 months at the sumerfarm. Spring and sutumn fencing for the goats and horses. Fieldwork in may to august/september and forrest work in november/desember. Internet access available

I staied with Kathrin and Thomas for three weeks in June and it turned out to be one of my best WWOOFing experiences! Kathrin and Thomas welcomed me so warmly and always took their time to explain things and introduce tasks to me and the other WWOOFers at the farm. It was the time in the year for moving the goats (and a lot of other things) up to the summer farm which was both: a lot of work, but also a really special experience! Although it was a lot of stuff going on, they tried their best to organize all the tasks and plan the weeks. Staying at Nørrestogo means not only work, but making new experiences like milking goats, help with making cheese, learn a lot about summerfarming, plants and herbs and also having nice food and good conversations with Kathrin, Thomas and their family! I really hope to come back again at some point! Thank you so much for all those special experiences!

I spend three lovely weeks with Thomas and Kathrin in their winter farm. When I arrived the geiting just started, so my main task was to socialize the kje (read: cuddle with them and let them climb and eat you), that's is certainly not the worst job :) I also had to feed the horses and sometimes the chickens. Other work was to cut and move wood or do some houstasks. I learned so much with them, not only about goats also general things about life that I wasn't expecting, which I will remember. Once they discovered I am learning norwegian they started to talk it to me and I'm so grateful for that because it was one of my objectives in Norway. Beyond that they introduced me to their culture by letting me try typical dishes and taking me out. The surroundings are beautiful with a lot of oppurtinities to hike and observe wildlife. I didn't felt like a guest but more like family and that is an incredible feeling. Tusen takk for all!

I spend five beautiful weeks at Kathrins and Thomas farm as my first experience in WWOOFing. From the first day on I was well integrated in all necessary tasks like making hay (good workout), milking the goats and many more. Kathrin and Thomas took enough time to teach and explain every task for me. Through this I was able to work independed although I had no prior experiences in farming. Also you learn a lot about the daily life on a smallscale goat farm. Much respect for Kathrin and Thomas. They are hard working people who really enjoy teaching other people their values and way of living. In the freetime you have plenty of opportunities to explore the surroundings like fishing, swimming in the lake or picking berries in the forrest nearby. This offers a good balance besides work and complete the true norwegian experience at Norrestogo. One last point: I have never eaten so good and fresh food like at Norrestogo. When you want to cook something grab the vegtable from the garden, use the fresh goat milk or fry your caught fish. As a summary: I would really recommend WWOOFing at Norrestogo and learning from Kathrin and Thomas! Tusen takk for having me!

We would really reccommend going to this beautiful farm and working with this lovely family. Me and my girlfriend stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed it very very much! We stayed in a very cozy and small wooden cabin close to the main house wich was also a sauna with a big woodstove, so don't worry that you will get cold! We did a lot of different tasks. In the morning starting with the fine routine off feeding, milking and taking care of the goats (+ hugging the cute and sometimes challenging baby goats!) and later also the 4 horses and chickens. Other things we did was preparing the vegetable garden, making fences for the horses, turning logs into beams with a big bandsaw, cleaning to prepare for cheese season, and many other small projects. We got the most amazing food and most of it was from their own animals and garden. We really enjoyed the goatyoghurt, jams, pulled goat, moose meat, a lot of different (cream)cheeses, fermented fish, sourghdoughpizza and bread and many more! As we know now, it takes a lot of time to make so many food of your own, but the reward is big. In our free time we could borrow some electric mountainbike and went for some nice walks in the beautiful erea. Thomas and Kathrin are hardworking people with a big heart and inspiring story to tell. They were so kind to invite us to easter lunch with the family and even take us to the cinema together with their sons Brage and Sondre. Tusen takk for the amazing experience! Vaarwel

A superb experience all around - thanks a million to Thomas and Kathrin, Brage and Sondre. It was a warm welcome into the family for more or less the month of April. A beautiful area and I so appreciate helping me to take some trips in free time! Their generosity and trust in allowing me to take trips to the mountain cabin with beautiful spring skiing - very kind. A lovely family to get to know and very agreeable and friendly to 'work' for. I learned some good practical skills and made some goat-friends. Hopefully we will see you again, thank you for everything.

Our stay at Nørrestogo is filled with a big variety of new and positive experiences - taking care of pigs, goats and horses, making jam and saft, helping and assisting with milking the goats, making cheese and training the horses and even being part of the big project "move the logghouse". We are definitly never bored ;) Thanks to you Kathrin and Thomas for your trust, for making us feel like part of the family, for all the delicious meals and for sharing your knowledge about norwegian traditions, farming and language! Tusen, tusen takk! We definitly recommend a stay with Kathrin, Thomas, Brage and Sondre. If you are ready to contribute to the daily tasks on a farm as well as to the daily chores in a houshold, you will get the chance to experience how it is to take over responsibility and work in a team as well as individually - to truly be part of a norwegian farm!
